CHARLIE SMITH london are delighted to announce the addition of Eric Manigaud to the gallery roster.

Eric Manigaud

The Shadow Line

Friday June 28th – Saturday July 27th 2013

Wednesday–Saturday 11am–6pm or by appointment

Born and based in France, Eric completed his Agrégation d’Arts Plastiques in 1996 at the University of Fine Arts, Saint Etienne. Eric specializes in extraordinarily rendered large scale pencil and graphite powder drawings that are instantly recognizable. Working from historical images, Eric engages with emotive subject matter including asylum inmates, murder victims and bombed cityscapes.

This month will see Eric starring in the Saatchi Gallery’s forthcoming exhibition Paper as well as being included in CHARLIE SMITH london’s presentation at VOLTA9 in Basel and being presented with his first one person exhibition in London at the gallery.

Gallery Director Zavier Ellis stated:

I have admired Eric’s work from a distance for several years, and began working with him when he applied to our open call exhibition Anthology in 2012, which he won unanimously and led directly to six pieces being placed in the Saatchi Gallery collection. His combination of virtuoso technique and tough, beguiling subject matter mark him out as a superlative artist who fits perfectly into our programme.
