Joe Tymkow – mono chrome

Mono-Chrome

An exhibition of painting and photography by Joe Tymkow

Friday 19th – Sunday 21st July 10am – 6pm

Bath Artists’ Studios Gallery

Perhaps rather surprisingly this is Joe’s first solo exhibition since graduating in Fine Art from UWE, Bristol in June 2010.

His practice is based on an exploration of the painting process; often combining conventional studio-based mediums such as oils, inks & acrylics with household and industrial substances such as bitumen, shellac, gloss & emulsion.
Mixing materials on the same surface often produces interesting reactions as the differing mediums fight each other for dominance. Joe is at his happiest when the entire canvas is active, wet and alive.
Joe has had work accepted in numerous group shows, including the Threadneedle Prize Exhibition in London.

The show will include a selection of mixed media paintings and hand processed silver gelatin prints.

There will also be a talk given by the artist – ‘Photography into paint’ – on Friday 19th July at 7pm.

Please contact the studios if you wish to attend as places may be limited.
