COMPETITION: CELEBRATING ARCHITECTURE, PEOPLE AND PLACE

CELEBRATING ARCHITECTURE, PEOPLE AND PLACE

The Photographer’s Gallery

Too often photographs about architecture forget about people. So, as part of Open House weekend, we have teamed up with Open-City and The Architects’ Journal to encourage more photographs about people and places with this competition.

There are three categories: under 11s, general enthusiasts and professional photographers.

Reviewing the entries will be AJ’s Art Editor Brad Yendle, The Photographers’ Gallery Director, Brett Rogers, and architectural photographers Dennis Gilbert and Grant Smith.

The overall winner and first runner-up both received LA Sardina “Govnor” London Edition cameras courtesy of Lomography. See the winning image from last year’s competition above, as well as the others here.

You can submit up to three images of different subjects that you feel best describe the theme.

HOW TO ENTER

To submit your photographs to the Open House competition, you must first set up a Flickr account and request to join our Flickr group and once your request has been approved, add your photo(s) to the group pool for authorization. Once your photo appears in the group pool, add a sentence briefly describing how the image fits our theme. We also encourage you to Geo-tag your pictures using the Flickr map tool so that others can see where it was taken. The winning entrants will be notified via their Flickr account by the end of October.
