Andrew Lansley and Molly van der Weij at 44AD artspace
Andrew Lansley is best known in Bath as the founder of WalkAndDrawBath, which has established its own recognizable style of imagery.
This exhibition will be an opportunity to see a broader range of his work in a wide range of media, including drawing, watercolour egg tempera, print and photography. Of his own work Andrew says ‘it is about defining and distilling the visual essence of things and places to grab my attention. It is the outworking expression of being present and connected with my surroundings.’
Andrew’s work is also currently showing at the Royal West of England Academy in Bristol. His work from Cornwall was recently exhibited in London at Mall Galleries in the Royal Society Marine Artists annual exhibition. His work was also long listed for theSunday Times watercolour prize 2013.
Molly van der Weij will be exhibiting a series of new drawings entitled Embodiments.
Molly is an established visual artist and communication designer with over 25 years international experience in visual communication and design, futures studies and art.
Being diagnosed with cancer in 2011 and undergoing its subsequent treatment focused her artistic interest on visualising this experience and to look into its distinct characteristics and processes. Embodiments is based on visual and verbal notes made during her treatment. Each drawing explores a specific element of the experience as a whole. They show how feelings and events pass through, how the body responds, copes and transcends.
Exhibition continues: 26 Nov – 01 Dec 2013
