Bursary Awards for Artists & Architects: Dartmoor Arts Project
Dartmoor Arts Project have bursaries on offer for places at our 8th annual summer school 27 July – 2 August 2014 and we particularly want to support young artists, architects and makers at the beginning of their careers.
The summer school brings together over 100 creative people for a week of intense art practice, discussion and sharing of ideas. During the week there is also a fantastic evening programme of speakers including contemporary artists, writers and thinkers. Over the last few years we have had artists join us such as Paul Granjon, Karolina Glusiec, Phoebe Unwin, Harrison & Wood, Susan Derges and Laura Ford, David Nash, Antony Gormley and Kip Gresham.
Ten courses are on offer this year including three exciting new ones:
PHOTO WORK: 5 APPROACHES TO CONTEMPORARY PHOTOGRAPHY– introduced by SUSAN DERGES and taught by 5 contemporary photographers.
ROBOTIC DRAWING MACHINES-BUILD YOUR YOUR OWN PROGRAMMABLE MINI DRAWING ROBOT with international performance and electronics artist PAUL GRANJON.
DRAWING INTO PAINTING with PAUL THOMAS, co-founder of the Jerwood Drawing Prize.
Our SPATIAL STRUCTURES Course is the only one of its kind currently on offer for young architects where students get to design and build an inhabitable structure at 1:1.
Summer school students have the space to realize ambitious projects in our large workshop areas and have the chance to gain experience from others already established, practicing and exhibiting.
