Tate St Ives Artists Programme
The Artists Programme supports the development of diverse artistic practices, providing a productive environment that values experimentation and risk, discussion and debate
The Tate St Ives Artists Programme is a pilot project running from October 2013 to September 2015. Continuing the legacy of the artists’ colony in St Ives, we are offering a number of residencies for artists and creative practitioners from between five days and six months. Participants are provided with an opportunity to engage with Tate St Ives, our communities, as well as our learning and public programmes.
The programme provides artists and creative practitioners with studio space (for residencies only), fees, materials costs and curatorial support to assist in the development of their professional practice. There are a variety of opportunities, studio based residencies and associate roles operating without a designated studio space.
Residencies of up to six months are based at the historic Porthmeor Studios in St Ives where studios have been formerly occupied by Borlase Smart, Ben Nicholson and Patrick Heron.
Associates undertake more targeted and sporadic opportunities, from five days to six months, often responding to a context involving Tate St Ives audiences and communities.
This two-year pilot builds on the Tate St Ives Artist’s Residency Programme which ran from 2003 to 2009. The new programme is designed to generate a productive environment that values experimentation and risk, discussion and debate, giving participants an exciting opportunity to develop their practice in a different context.
