Jerwood Drawing Prize 2014

Jerwood Drawing Prize 2014

Artists are invited to submit entries for the Jerwood Drawing Prize 2014, the largest and longest running annual open exhibition for drawing in the UK.

The Jerwood Drawing Prize is a joint initiative, led by Drawing Projects UK and supported by Jerwood Charitable Foundation, and now in association with Bath Spa University. It is delivered through the Jerwood Visual Arts programme showing in London and on tour nationally. Selected from original art works it has established a reputation for its commitment to championing excellence, and promoting and celebrating the breadth of contemporary drawing practice within the UK. By showcasing the work of emerging artists alongside established artists, the Prize has helped contribute to the careers of numerous well-known British artists over its 20-year history.

This open exhibition is a platform for drawing practitioners to showcase their work alongside other leading contemporary artists in this field, and provides those selected with the opportunity to help define a wider understanding of drawing for future generations.

The Jerwood Drawing Prize is open to all UK based artists, from student to established, working with drawing. From an anticipated submission of over 3,000 entries, the selectors will bring together up to 70 works for an exhibition in the Jerwood Visual Arts programme, at Jerwood Space, London from 17 September – 26 October 2014. The exhibition will then tour to venues across the UK, including Cheltenham, Leeds and Bournemouth.

The prizes, which will be awarded to the winning artists at a ceremony on Tuesday 16 September 2014, are a First Prize of £8,000, Second Prize of £5,000 and two Student Awards of £2,000 each.
Registration for artists entering the Jerwood Drawing Prize 2014 will close at 5pm on Monday 16 June 2014. Once registered, artists are invited to submit their works through one of the regional collection centres.
