Transient Bodies at View
25th Sep – 16th Nov 2014
Figures and faces captured in a moment of time. From explicit expression to ghostly frames, we are questioning the story behind the persona. Each piece prompts an initial thought and then a story evolves depending on the viewers interpretation and personal connection.
The range of styles are broad – photorealism sits alongside abstract expressionism, iconic portraits contrast with faceless figures.
We welcome back some regular artists to View – Damian Daly, Richard Twose and China Mike – who have continually astonished us with their unique figurative work. We are also excited to present View virgins – Dan Hillier, Joshua Bowe and Matthew Small – who slot perfectly into the theme with a variety of technical input and emotional response. Sherrod Barnes-Ginifer, Stuart Mitchell, Edward Taylor and Tim Pavier return for the exhibition with familiar impact but new style.
Consistent within all of the work in this evocative collection is the hidden secret that lurks behind the human expression or the mystical visage.
