BBC Radio 2 Artist in Residence
R2 is conducting a search for a R2 Artist in Residence in association with The Space (a digital arts organisation). It launches on The Radio 2 Arts Show on Friday 10 April. It will close at midnight on Sun 10 May. No applications will be accepted after this time.
The search is only open to professional artists – defined as someone who makes more than half their annual income from creative endeavour.
We are looking for an artist that works in any medium – they could be a poet, painter, sculptor, audio/visual/multi-media artist. However, we are not looking for a musician. The artistic must have lived and worked in the UK for a minimum of 3 years and be an individual (as opposed to a group of artists). The artistic responses to the R2 events i.e.”Works”, should each be able to be presented in digital form and will be shown on bbc.co.uk (including R2 website and BBC Art Online) and thespace.org
Artists will be asked to submit:
An example of their work
A written submission of 500 words (equivalent to one side of A4) on why they would like this position, and why they believe their work is relevant and suitable for the broad mainstream R2 audience. Within this written submission, artists are asked to look at the series of images/list of events of R2 events in 2014 on the R2 Artist in Residence website and explain what treatment they might consider in covering one of those events.
