Welcome to Photomonth 2015

photomonth is an international photography festival focussed on East London. Founded in 2001 and taking place in October & November each year the festival aims to demonstrate the diversity of contemporary photography and reach the widest possible audience.

photomonth owes a great deal of its success to the open call for exhibitions giving the opportunity for emerging artists to be appreciated in a variety of interesting and unusual spaces alongside leading internationally renowned photographers.

photomonth is committed to the creative development of photography. The exhibitions present work of the highest possible standard, giving exposure to photographers from the world over as well as those that are locally based or come from other parts of the UK.

A programme of special events creates interest and participation in photography and includes portfolio reviews, lectures, seminar’s, talks by artists, workshops and tours.

Photomonth is produced by alternative arts, Montefiore Centre, Hanbury Street, London E1 5HZ, +44 (0)20 8800 6665,

In 2015 photomonth includes the photobook weekend and the photoblock at the Old Truman Brewery, the photo-open and portfolio review at the Rich Mix, and a wide-ranging programme of exhibitions, events, artists talks, seminars, workshops & courses providing opportunities for everyone to engage in and enjoy photography.

Photomonth opens at theprintspace with Harrodsburg, a remarkable body of work by Glaswegian photographer Dougie Wallace who continues to push the boundaries of the social documentary genre. Harrodsburg tells a story of glut, greed and the widening wealth gap playing out on the streets of a city that is going through a period of unprecedented social change.
