The Art Vending Machine at @exeter_phoenix is looking for new set of diverse and engaging artistic items.

The Art Vending Machine (AVM) sells packet sized Art for the common people. It is currently installed at the Exeter Phoenix Arts Centre and we are looking to populate the machine with a new set of diverse and engaging artistic items.

The AVM stocks 5 different items at a time with a 25 unit capacity on each item. We are looking at stocking 9-10 different items which will be rotated on a monthly basis. It will be restocked as items sell out or after a 6 month period.

Because of the exact sizing required by the vending machine pre-designed boxes are supplied. The boxes are 58x90x22mm and are made from brown craft card stock. They feature a designed print, and come stamped with artists/work details. A £1 surcharge is added to the selling price of items. This covers the box price and machine administration.

The artists role is to provide 25 items, either a series or multiples of the same piece that fit inside the box dimensions. Please be aware that the above dimensions are the external dimensions of the box so it need to be slightly smaller than stated. Pieces will need to be completed and delivered to the AVM by the 4th September 2017.

Artists are free to utilize the dimensions of the box however they see fit. We are seeking a variety of work as offering a diversity of mediums is important to us. We implore people from various backgrounds to participate. Examples include, micro-sculptures, Zines, short fiction and small artists books, DIY art kits, micro-paintings or viewing devices, sound recordings, live recordings of bands/poets/performances, short films, animations and digital artwork.

We are looking to include one digital artist and offer 1G USB memory sticks at an added cost of £2 per item. If you are international and your piece requires printing in the UK, we can source printing locally for you.

We will receive all artwork on a Sale-or-Return basis. As stated we add £1 to the selling price of each item to cover box, maintenance and administration of the machine. The artist can decide the selling price of the work between £1-£10 and will receive all payment for work sold at the end of a 6 month period.
